Tip & Ring Tip and Ring are telephony slang for the two wires which make up the electrical circuit used for telephone wiring. Tip is the nickname for the electrically positive wire and Ring is the nickname for the electrically negative wire. Connections on a plug and jack basis, with the plugs on cords and the jacks mounted on a board.

As skirts got shorter, legs became visible and hosiery and shoes suddenly became fashion items. The shoes and stockings that nobody could see under floor-length skirts became passé.
